all those trees back fifty feet. I want the people on the big trains to see what's

| Early
Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad tickets were segmented to allow you to board
once at each station to tour the entire park. Clever Guests would use each segment
to ride the complete trip around the Park. Note that there are Railroad Stations
on Main Street, in Frontierland and in Fantasyland, but not in Tomorrowland.

Across the tracks from the Frontierland Station is the Stationmaster's office where you can hear the telegraph clicking away in Morse Code, sending text taken from Walt's Opening Day dedication speech: "To
all who come to Disneyland, Welcome. This structure was once the original Frontierland Station and was found inside the tracks where it was used as the passenger station in the park's early days. | ![]() Postcard photo courtesy Walt's Toy Trains. |

The
Tomorrowland Station is sleek, angular, and somewhat anachronistic. The arrivals
speeches don't seem to be as loud or as important as they are in Frontierland.
Perhaps it's the louder ambient background noise of Autopia cars, Orbitrons and
rock bands. | |

On
this journey, the narration did not play between the dioramas. |

Track: And
speaking of Frontierland, the Old West wasn't easy to conquer without "The
Iron Horse", the steam locomotive, and steam trains just like these brought
our nation a little closer together.

| This
special V.I.P. Ticket allowed passage on the Presidential Caboose Salon Car, The
Lilly Belle,
named for Walt's wife, Lillian.
The ticket was good for Railroad passage only, and was not good for Park Admission.
Note that at this point in time, there were Railroad Stations on Main Street,
in Frontierland and in Tomorrowland (no longer in Fantasyland - not yet in Toontown).
Note also that by now there was a Primeval World portion of the Diorama. Photo Courtesy of Phil-Sears.com |

| Background
illustrations for our 1958-Welcome,
1958-Main Street, U.S.A., and
1958-Fantasyland, and Disneyland
Railroad pages were scanned from a trio of 3"x5", single-fold
notecards. The back side reads, "© Disneyland, Inc." Sorcerer Mickey
welcomes any information
that guests may care to offer as to the history, value, and missing members of
this notecard set. These illustrations seem to represent conceptual artwork predating
the opening of Disneyland. By the park's opening in 1955, the name of Sleeping
Beauty's Castle had been well-established, with the Matterhorn opening in 1959.
The designations, "Fairy Castle" and "Snow Mountain" place
the illustrations well before then. It would seem that these were prototype designations
for Sleeping Beauty Castle, and, either what was known as "Lookout Mountain"
(doubtful), or what we now know as The Matterhorn (more likely). |
