1958 Audio Tour of
Welcome to the Disneyland of 1958 -- where there is no Matterhorn, no Submarine Lagoon, no Monorail! Enjoy the spectacular orchestral overture and fanfare that introduces this portion of your tour.
Welcome to 1958

"Disneyland will be the essence of America as we know it, the nostalgia of the past with exciting glimpses into the future." - Walt Disney

Note the authentic 1958 48-star flag!

In 1958, an LP record was released on the Disneyland label, featuring the voices of Walt Disney and Cliff Edwards as Jiminy Cricket as they took the listener on an audio trip through Disneyland of 1958, complete with original music scores for each land. Sorcerer's Workshop is privileged to share this fascinating audio time capsule with you.

Some of our guests may be familiar with the recently rereleased 1956 album,
Walt Disney Takes You To Disneyland
. This 1958 audio tour of the park, A Day At Disneyland, starts with that underlying soundtrack and overlays the whimsical observations of Jiminy Cricket to
interpret the audio score for younger listeners.

To hear a wav file or mp3 file segment of the tour, click on the selected link at the end of each section. Link text indicates file format (wav, mp3, ram) and file size. You will find the complete audio for each land in a RealAudio file
at the bottom of each land's page - look for Jiminy flashing his badge!

Jiminy Cricket welcomes you to 1958 Disneyland, where he and Walt Disney will be your guides through the Magic Kingdom as it was over forty years ago!
Jiminy Cricket:  Hello.  I'm Jiminy Cricket, and I'm going along with you on one of the most exciting trips you've ever taken - a tour of Disneyland, U.S.A.

We're going to visit Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, and finally, Fantasyland...uh, where I make my home, of course.

Best of all, we'll meet Walt Disney himself, and he's going to point out the principal sights in his Magic Kingdom.

Right now, we're standing in the Railroad Station, near the entrance to Disneyland, just off the Town Square.  The old train is coming and Walt's right onboard.  Listen, you can hear it whistling in the distance...

Walt Disney:
Hello.
Welcome to Disneyland.

Walt...doing what he loved.

found at the bottom of the Main Street U.S.A. page)

Background illustrations for our 1958-Welcome, 1958-Main Street, U.S.A., and 1958-Fantasyland, and Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad pages were scanned from a trio of 3"x5", single-fold notecards. The back side reads, "© Disneyland, Inc." Sorcerer Mickey welcomes any information that guests may care to offer as to the history, value, and missing members of this notecard set. These illustrations seem to represent conceptual artwork predating the opening of Disneyland.
