1958 Audio Tour of
Jiminy closes out tour of 1958 Disneyland by spending a couple of C tickets. Warning: this is a DARK RIDE!
Fantasyland

Jiminy Cricket: (singing)
"When you wish upon a star
It makes no difference who you are
For anything your heart desires
will come to you..."*

Walt Disney demonstrates what you should Never-Never do...fail to keep your hands and arms inside the pirate ship at all time, please.

Walt Disney: Fantasyland is the world of imagination, hopes and dreams. It is dedicated to the Young and the Young In Heart, to those who believe that when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true. Come with me to King Arthur's Carrousel, to see an elephant fly, to dig for diamonds in the Dwarfs' gold mine, and to ride a pirate ship through the sky.

Jiminy Cricket: Fantasyland is truly the happiest place of all, and there's so much to do here, that Walt didn't have time to mention half of it.

There's the Magic Teacup ride, there's Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and a big Pirate Ship in the lagoon.

There's ice cream men, popcorn men,
clowns selling balloons.
There's Mickey Mouse's own theatre!

But, come on, let's go over to the Snow White ride. There's a car going down into the Dwarfs' mine right now!

And there they are, working away with their picks and singing, "We dig, dig, dig, dig, dig in our mine the whole day through, to dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, is what we like to do!"  Look at those jewels shine!

Now, we're coming out into the woods and there are the birds and the chipmunks, Snow White's friends.  But it's a little spooky here, and those trees seem to be moving like ferocious wild animals.  Look out!  It's the Witch!  She's coming after us.  She's handing us an apple!  But don't take it...it's poison!  Let's get outta here!  That old witch is still after us.  There she comes with that poisoned apple again!

Witch: Have an apple, Dearie!

Jiminy Cricket: Whew! That was scary, but fun, too, wasn't it?

Peter Pan's next.  Let's go over and catch one of the pirate ships that flies through the sky.

Wow, we're really up in the air in this ship, and flying over London.  There's Big Ben, London Bridge, and away off in the distance, is the Second Star to the Right.

Here we are over Never-Never Land.  There's Mermaid Lagoon and the Indian Village, and look out!  There's Captain Hook's pirate ship!

Now we're going into Skull Rock, and there's Captain Hook and faithful Smee.  Look out!  Hook is pointing his pistol at us!  I think he's gonna fire!

Jiminy Cricket: That was too close for comfort. Now we're coming into the light again, safe and sound.

Let's go over to Storybook Land now.  The way we see this is from a real canal boat.  First, we go through the mouth of Monstro the Whale.  Look at those big molars, but he won't hurt us. He's stuck here in the rocks at Disneyland and has been for a long time, and will be for a long time to come.
Now we're coming out into Storybook Land.  Everything here is in miniature.  There are the houses of the Three Little Pigs, one made of straw, one made of wood, and one made of bricks.  Over on the other side, there's a little river, and beside it stands Toad Hall.  Down on the riverbank are the homes of Mr. Rat and Mr. Mole.  High up on the hill is Cinderella's chateau, and still higher on the very tipmost peak is the beautiful castle where she went to dance and met the prince.

Over there, look, it's Alice in Wonderland's home, and there's the little hole in the ground she went down, following the White Rabbit.

Storybook Land is full of the houses of all your favorite characters, isn't it?  Up on that hill, there it is! The little village where Pinocchio lives with Geppetto, his father. And kids, you know, that's where I live, too, ever since I walked in one night and made myself at home by the fireplace.  So, I'm going to leave you all now, and go home and have a nap.

I hope I see you again in Disneyland.
