Adventureland

Jungle Cruise Skipper Walt Disney welcomes you aboard for a trip down the rivers of Adventureland!

Walt Disney:
This is Adventureland.
We are in a little village clearing far up some tropical river.  There is an explorer's launch at the landing.  Let's climb on board and explore the farther reaches of these mysterious waters.

Jiminy Cricket: Boy! An explorer's boat ride! But Walt's not kidding, these are very mysterious waters. They look dangerous...uh, to a little fellow like me. Of course, there's an experienced guide running this boat...at least, I hope he's experienced! They say they've never lost a passenger yet. Well, maybe if I just look at the scenery, I won't worry. Oh, those beautiful jungle vines and lovely orchids in the trees.

Ahoy there, Boatman! Take it easy going around these bends!  Look there: A whole tree full of monkeys!  Listen to 'em chatter!

Hey, stop rocking the boat!
  What's that in the water?  Hippos!  Hippos!  Look at that one yawn!  What a cave full of teeth!

Stand aside, Big Mouth!  We're passing you by!

Look at that tall tree over there. Why, it's moving. It's a giraffe. Look at him, he's nodding his head at us. My goodness, this jungle is so heavily populated with...

<SFX: ELEPHANT>

Ah! It's an elephant! Those ears...no wonder he heard us coming. I believe that elephant could fly with those big ears. Maybe it's Dumbo. I'll ask him. Uh, Dumbo? Dumbo! Nice Dumbo.

<SFX: ELEPHANT>

I guess his name isn't Dumbo. C'mon, let's get out of here!

The river look a little dangerous here. We're beginning to move quickly.  This is what you call the rapids.  There's Switzer Falls just ahead of us.  Look out!  Look out!

Whew! I'm glad we got out of that.

Uh-oh, native drums.  It looks like we're really in cannibal country now.  And there, there on the shore, oh, look at that fellow.  He's smiling at us, but I don't like the looks of his grin. And hey, isn't that a skull on that stick?

Look out!  Look out, there on the bank, that crocodile! He's opening his mouth!  And look at those teeth!

<SFX: GUNSHOTS>

Got him! Hah, no wonder the guide carries a gun!

There's the little village again, We're coming up to the dock and the Boatman brought us all the way back, safe and sound. At least, I hope we're all here, aren't we? Let's count and see. Yes, we're all here and I tell you, this is one cricket who's glad to be back on dry land.

It's wonderful to see all these animals in Adventureland... uh, but from a safe distance, naturally!
